Nerikomi is a style of pottery in which colored clay is used to create patterns. To create a specific pattern, colored clay is stacked in precise ways and sliced through the cross section to form a slab. The pattern created by nerikomi therefore differs from those created by surface-applied glaze or paints.
I use porcelain clay for its translucence and matte texture.
Porcelain clay used for my pieces are non-toxic, and the surface is smoothed to prevent bacterial growth.
